Code of Practice Audit

Whether you are seeking an audit for third party purposes or for assessing your own level of compliance, CoR Australia can provide the audit service against the relevant Code of Practice.

There are a number of activity, industry and sector wide Codes of Practice that establish a standard of behaviour and approach to business.  These Codes cover operational activities, systems, compliance and governance as a positive strategy for eliminating the main CoR and OHS risk from the business and reducing the likelihood and severity of a CoR/OHS incident occurring.

In some cases these Codes of Practice have been registered or acknowledged as being an appropriate response to managing CoR risks and where a party is meeting the Code, then the expectation is that compliance with the Code will provide a completed defence to any CoR prosecution.

To ensure the Code is being properly implemented and to provide assurance to Consignors, many CoR supply chain partners submit to third party audits.

Where CoR Australia has been involved in the elements of your CoR Review, CoR Australia can put you in contact with suitably qualified auditors to undertake your audit.

The NHVR offers the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS) as an alternative compliance scheme as a formal process for recognising operators who have robust safety and other management systems in place.  NHVAS can also being used to show compliance with general duty requirements (and reasonable steps defence) under NHV Laws.

Heavy vehicle operators can apply for accreditation under the following NHVAS areas:

  • Maintenance Management
  • Fatigue Management: Basic Fatigue Management (BFM) option
  • Fatigue Management: Advanced Fatigue Management (AFM) option
