Independent regulator essential for road pricing reform

The introduction of cost-reflective road pricing must include the establishment of an independent economic regulator to set fair, enforceable prices for road users, the Chief Executive of the Australian Trucking Association, Christopher Melham, said today.

TCA to Finalise Electronic Work Diaries Specs

Transport Certification Australia (TCA) is to push ahead with making Electronic Work Diaries (EWDs) fit for purpose following a deal with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).

Proposed red tape cut for businesses that move limited quantities of dangerous goods

The NTC today released a proposed reform to reduce the amount of paperwork businesses that transport limited quantities of products classified as dangerous goods must complete.

The federal government will press ahead with road pricing reform following its formal acceptance of the Harper Review’s findings.

COR Reform to Boost Heavy vehicle Roadworthiness

The council agreed on a series of amendments to the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL): creating a primary duty of care on operators, prime contractors and employers to ensure the safety of their road transport operations

Police say heavy vehicle operations will be ongoing

NEW South Wales police have stopped more than 4000 drivers as part of two major traffic operations targeting heavy vehicles in the Western region and they’ve warned that more are coming.

Traffic control still in place at Woodburn after fatal crash

The Pacific Highway has reopened under alternating (stop/slow) traffic conditions at Woodburn after a fatal truck and car accident yesterday afternoon.

Acton tunnel speed limit back to 90kph one month after crash

The speed limit for the westbound lanes of the Acton Tunnel is to be restored to 90 kilometres per hour (kph) today. A 60 kph limit has been in place since a truck carrying an excavator gouged out a 60-metre stretch of the tunnel’s ceiling last month.

WA mine worker dies in truck roll-over

The Department of Mines and Petroleum is investigating the death of a mine worker who rolled a large dump truck at a Western Australian mine.

Woman freed from truck wreck near Boonah

A woman has been airlifted to hospital with two serious leg fractures, following an earlier crash near Boonah. Police say a truck crashed into an embankment off Beaudesert-Boonah Rd at Coulson, about 12.30pm this afternoon.

Police expected to charge driver of truck that caught fire, causing traffic chaos

A Hoppers Crossing man is likely to be charged after losing control of his empty B-Double before it burst into flames at Werribee this morning.

The WHS Policy is support by its Sub-Policies which ensure a safe and healthy working environment, they include:

  • Drugs and Alcohol Policy
  • Fatigue Management Policy
  • Speed Management Policy
  • Load Management Policy.

The Fatigue Management Policy sets out:

  • a commitment to ensure a safe and healthy workplace where employees are fit for work and not impaired by fatigue
  • a strategy to achieve this, for example, the Fatigue Risk Management Framework
  • general responsibilities for the employer, managers and employees for fatigue management
