Bus Crashes into Melbourne Bridge after Ignoring Warning Signs

busPolice are investigating how a luxury coach crashed into a rail bridge in Melbourne in February this year.

The bus had 15 passengers on board and 4 of them had to be cut free by fire crews and taken to hospital after the accident involving the bus and low clearance bridge in South Melbourne.

Police are investigating how the driver managed to ignore warning signs and lights.

VicRoads is in the meantime reviewing the warnings but says “alot of driver error was involved in the crash”.

They also said the driver had driven the bus towards the bridge at a considerable speed which is why the bus was extensively damaged.

The passengers were lucky to escape unharmed, probably because the roof height of the bus was well below the height of the bridge. The only injuries sustained were cuts, abrasions and bruising.
