Queensland’s peak local government association and the NHVR have signed an agreement to improve the productivity and safety of the state’s roadfreight industry.

The agreement signed aims to streamline heavy vehicle access to 150,000km of council controlled roads in the state.

NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto said the agreement was a breakthrough, being the first of its kind and showing commitment to working with local government.

Staff members from NHVR are still meeting with mayors and local government representatives in southern New South Wales and are looking to have similar agreements established with other local governments.
