Police Slam Speeding Driver at Crash Spot

The notorious stretch of road which includes a steep descent at Warringah Road in Dee Why has once again come into the spotlight following the jailing of a truck driver for a 2014 crash that left 6 people injured. This time a truck driver was charged and had his license suspended after he was speeding down the descent at 70km/h, 50km over the speed limit of 20km/h.

The police described the behaviour as disgraceful, expressing shock that anyone would speed down that descent, and in particular a truck driver.

The truck was apparently overtaking cars as it raced down the descent, unwittingly driving past a parked police car. Police were quick to spot the driver, follow him and signal him to stop before charging him and suspending his license.

On October 21, 2014, another truck driver drove his 22-tonne truck down Warringah Rd at more than 45km/h over the speed limit, failed to negotiate the left-hand turn into Warringah Rd and crashed into seven stationary cars, seriously injuring 2 people.
