Truck Driver Slapped with $3000 Fine for Acton Tunnel Crash

An incident that should serve as a warning to truck drivers entering tunnels took place at the Acton Tunnel last year causing over a million dollars in damages.

The truck driver whose truck carrying an excavator tore through the Acton Tunnel in October last year has been handed down a $3000 fine.

The vehicle smashed into the tunnel ceiling on Parkes Way for more than 50 metres, leaving behind a trail of debris.

The cost to repair the tunnel has been estimated at $1.2 million, which includes the cost of closing the road and replacing damaged tiles.
