WorkSafe Penalises Retailer for Truck Driver’s Injury

WorkSafe Victoria has penalised a retailer over an incident that involved a truck driver whose foot was run over twice by a mobile shipping container transporter at the retailer’s distribution centre.

The company was issued a $150,000 fine without conviction after it was found that the company failed to provide a safe work environment. The company pleaded guilty in court to failing to ensure that the workplace was safe to enter and leave.

The driver was injured while walking along a marked pedestrian area at the company’s distribution centre.

His ankle, knee and foot was injured, with one of his toes being amputated.
