NatRoad Calls for Better Research in Crash Causes

The National Road Transport Association (NatRoad) has called for improved research into the causal factors of heavy vehicle fatalities as well as the creation of a register of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) prosecutions.

NatRoad says this would help to better understand trends and reduce the industry death toll.

NatRoad CEO Warren Clark is calling for more research to get to the bottom of heavy vehicle accident causes, in addition to the progress being made by advances in vehicle technology and road safety campaigns.

He states that while the overall trend is going in the right direction, there is still far to go if we want to achieve a zero death toll in the industry.

He said a government agency should have the power to investigate serious truck crashes quickly and extensively and share the results and recommendations publicly for all in the industry to take action.
