New Trailer Speed Cameras Detected 647 Speeding Road Users

Motorists around Queensland should give speeding a second thought, especially if they think they can get away with it, because law enforcement recently enlisted additional help.

New QPS trailer speed cameras have been rolled out on Queensland’s busiest road networks, and in the first 3 weeks, detected more than 647 speeding drivers.

The camera trailers which are remotely managed, are used in the high risk areas which are not safe for police officers to be deployed. In their initial weeks, the cameras monitored more than 2.8 million vehicles.

Given that one in four road fatalities in Queensland are as a result of speeding, police said they would continue to explore new road safety methods to improve road safety.
