Truck Driver Loses His Licence After Speeding and Drink Driving

A truck driver has had his licence taken away for a year after driving dangerously along a stretch of the Calder Highway.

The man was caught speeding and drink driving on the notorious road after he said his friends had taken him out drinking.

The man pleaded guilty to driving at a dangerous speed and drink driving in the Mildura Magistrates Court earlier this month.

The court heard that the man was driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 when he was stopped by police, driving more than 45km over the speed limit.

The court heard that the speed limit had been dropped from 80km/h to 60km/h after a double fatality.

This incident should serve as a reminder to other truck drivers that not only are they putting lives at risk but they are risking their livelihood as well by drink driving and speeding.
