A woman in Queensland who reported a truck crash claims the 000 operator failed to alert emergency services and may have cost the truck driver his life.

The retired nurse said she heard a violent thud that shook her home near the Logan Motorway at Tanah Merah and she and neighbours walked around searching for the source of the sound.

The next morning she went looking and found the wreckage of the truck which plunged off an elevated section of the motorway, landing in a difficult to see spot.

She called triple-0 to report  what had happened but no one was sent out.

Police have provided a different version of the event. While police said they were on the scene by 9:30am in the morning, a police media unit issued a statement saying police were alerted by the crash by a passer-by at 10:40am.

The neighbour had called triple zero at 6:08am.

The body of the 57 year old driver was found in the wreckage.

There are fears that the slow response of emergency personnel could have cost the driver his life.
