Heavy Winds Topple Truck in Melbourne

Severe weather conditions can reek all kinds of havoc, particularly on the road.

A severe weather warning remained in place for heavy gusts of winds in excess of 100km/h for parts of Victoria including metropolitan Melbourne.

The strongest gust of wind was recorded at 117km/h at Mount William and 95km/h at Melbourne Airport.

In one incident, a truck was blown over on the Hume Freeway.

A driver described how she found herself behind the swaying truck as she exited the Craigieburn East bypass.

She managed to overtake the truck and her gut told her “to just back off”. Within seconds she witnessed the truck flipping onto its side.

The Central, South West and parts of East Gippsland, North Central, North East and West and South Gippsland districts are all on alert as high winds are anticipated.
