Following a pledge from the federal government to allocate $3.2billion to Western Australian infrastructure development in the 2018-19 budget, improvements to the Bunbury Outer Ring Road and Perth’s Tonkin Highway are likely to take place.

WA Transport Minister Rita Saffioti was thrilled by the funding allocation, stating that the federal government’s $560 million funding to the Bunbury project would improve freight efficiency to the Bunbury Port. It would also allow for the growth of industrial centres.

Saffioti praised the allocation as a major win for jobs in the South-West and for Bunbury residents who will benefit from the reduced freight traffic on local roads.

It will also allow for the remaining stages of the South Western Highway and Perth Bunbury Highway to be completed.  Read more at https://www.fullyloaded.com.au/industry-news/1804/wa-praises-road-upgrade-plans
