A landmark study has found that truck driving is one the unhealthiest and deadliest jobs in Australia. In fact the study found that the risk of dying for truckies is 13 times higher than other Australians.
The 12 year study conducted by researchers at Monash University evaluated 120,000 insurance claims between 2004-2015 for work related injury and disease in truck drivers. It found that truckies had a higher risk of illness, psychological stress and other injuries.
Truck drivers actually make more injury related claims than bus drivers, delivery drivers, car drivers, rail drivers and other male dominated occupations.
It also found that truck drivers most often suffered from musculoskeletal injury.
