A Swedish study has found that the benefits of night deliveries outweigh the consequence of noise disturbance.
The 2 year long study conducted in Stockholm, Sweden found there were economic, environmental and social advantages of night time deliveries.
The study involved 2 trucks making deliveries between 10pm and 6am and had the vehicles fitted with microphones to monitor noise levels.
It revealed that loading and unloading was worse for noise than the actual vehicle operation.
Busy streets were no longer a problem for late deliveries and efficiencies of vehicle movement was 20 per cent.
