$39Million NHVR Initiative to Address Safety

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative will be providing funding to 14 initiatives including an edu-tech app that helps learner drivers learn about sharing the road with trucks, a video series promoting 10 top safety tips and a roadside effluent disposal facility.

The funding program worth $3.9million was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Infrastructure and transport Minister Michael McCormak.

NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto highlighted the important role played by safety projects such as these in the improvement of heavy vehicle safety and productivity.

Some of the other initiatives that will receive funding in 2018-19 includes a truck safety resource in WA and the NT, development of a brake calculator and expansion of the National Safety Camera Network.
