Queensland Police recently issued a reminder on their website for drivers to rest before embarking on a journey, especially truck drivers.
The call came after a truck rollover occurred on Brisbane’s Valley Highway.
The truck driver fell asleep while driving a truck loaded with freight. The truck weighed more than 40 tonnes and could have done considerable damage, including injuring or killing other road users. Thankfully this was not the case and no one was injured. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Police said the incident is a reminder to drivers to ensure they rest properly before, during and after a drive.
They also reminded drivers to plan out their rest stops if they were embarking on a long trip.
