Truck Driver Affected by Drugs Causes Chaos on Melbourne Road
The consequences of driving under the influence of illicit substances has been highlighted by an incident on a bustling Melbourne road recently.
A semi-trailer crashed into a power pole after losing control, bringing down the pole and trashing several bins in its path.
Police were called to the scene on Toorak Road after reports were made of a fallen pole.When they arrived they found the truck responsible for the mayhem, stationary down the road.
The 44 year old truck driver was arrested and taken to a local police station. There he was tested for drugs and alcohol and returned a positive reading to drugs.
The man is expected to receive a drug-driving charge.
In addition to motorists being delayed, electricity in the area was lost due to the power pole collapse. Crews worked and eventually restored power to the area.
