Truck Driver involved in Fatal Crash Sentenced to 18 Months

A truck driver was recently sentenced to at least 18 months in prison after hitting into a 26 year old woman in Sydney last year.

The truck driver pleaded guilty to dangerous driving occasioning death after his truck crashed into the woman on the Kingsway at Caringbah in November 2016 as she was on her way to work.

The driver turned at an intersection when there was a red arrow and Judge Peter Maiden said the intersection is difficult and requires drivers to be vigilant particularly given that there is a railway station and school nearby so pedestrians around the intersection are common.

The driver received a  maximum term of 31 and a half months in prison. He is eligible for parole in August 2019. Source: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-02-09/truck-driver-fatal-caringbah-crash-sentenced/9412778
